Humming and Electrical Noise?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

hopefully you can help me with this one.

I bought a 2014 vRS TSI, and I’ve noticed this “humming” noise when the car is off.

But yesterday, when I parked the car at home, got out and locked it, besides the humming there was also a high pitch “electrical” noise which stopped after around 10 or so beeps.

Have your heard anything similar or might know what it is?

This is the video from yesterday, you can hear the humming and the high pitch noise. The high pitch noise stops and the humming continues. Other background noise is from the water pipes in the garage, don't mind that.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Normal. That's just the ECU saying Hi. For anything you do in the car it makes a note of it. Open the bonnet, logs and status are updated. Open the door...same thing. Don't worry about it....you will get use to the VAG quirks.

Thank you for the info 😉

Unfortunately its  normal, sounds horrible doesnt it!

Every time I shut off the engine it sounds like a dog is barking somewhere close (two high pitch barks). At first I thought it was my neighbours dog barking every time I come home but later I realised it is the car lol.

It'll take some getting used to these VAG quirks as varaderoguy said 😅

I didn't have that perception, but it's pretty funny nonetheless. 😂
