Burnt out clutch Kamiq

Featured Replies

Hi from Dorset.

I drive a Kamiq SE L 1.0 TSI PS 6 Man   Milage 9800.  Whilst changing down on  approaching an island on the A35 there was a bang and strong burning smell. The clutch had burnt out and Skoda assist towed to a main dealer. They have informed me that it is not covered under (warranty wear and tear ) which I am finding hard to swallow having driven for some 60 years and I have never had a clutch problem!!  This is my third Skoda having the previous model  Kamiq and a Fabia before that.

I am wondering if any one else as experienced or is experiencing  clutch  problems with a Kamiq ?

Thank you

Hello and welcome Pop45 :hi:

Sorry to hear about your clutch failure - it certainly does sound premature and potentially suspect.  Have you considered having it inspected independently in case of a manufacturing or installation error?

I'm fairly sure this has come up before, so it would be worth using the site's search facility, e.g.:

I'll ask that a Mod considers moving this to the Kamiq section, as more people are likely to see it there.

PS: Dorset - my favourite County 😎  We're regulars down to Bridport, around and about.

Just browsing the site and found those articles so looking up an independent inspector.

I have had the same problem with my Skoda Fabia which is only 3 years old and unfortunately no longer under warranty. The clutch burnt out. I have had an older car which did more miles where the clutch went and did not expect this for a car of this age which has only done 11,000 miles roughly. Have contacted Skoda so I will see what they see but it has put me off buying another Skoda. I expected the clutch to last alot longer.

Hi Paula

Sorry to hear this Paula I too contacted Skoda who claimed they had no other cases histories so wouldnt overrule the local garge !!

I had a Fabia and a Kamiq both went into the 20,000 miles and been I have driving 60 years without a clutch problem, but didnt listen !! I was unable to prove it was not wear and tear so paid up !! ..and then changed brands all faith gone from Skoda!! Good luck I hope you do better than me.

Thanks Pop45 That's not good if they want to keep customers. I understand you for losing your faith with Skoda, I feel a bit that way now. Thanks will see what they say, will let you know :)
