Light Assist Package

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I have a 2018 Edition 4x4 diesel and during this spell of bad weather it behaves great however I don't seem to have main beam dipping was it an optional extra on this model? I have where it on time Early etc, but nothing else. Can anyone please help?

There is no 'dip' if you're using the automatic light assist gizmo.......

R u referring to High Beam Assist (HBA)?

HBA automatically dips the beam when it sees oncoming traffic, and then automatically resumes it when traffic has passed.

If so, u can activate it using OBDEleven or VCDS.

I can share the instructions if u want it.

Thank you for your reply but I am still not sure if I have it on my car as I explained i have the option to dip my lights Early, Medium, and late but no box to tick to turn on light assist. Maybe it was an optional extra on this model? How do activate it using OBD reader?

@Jaydor - u need to have the A5 Camera, and if light assist is enabled, u'll see either Light Assist or Dynamic Light Assist tick box option under Light Settings in the infotainment menu.

I haven't got the box for Dynamic Light Assist  but I do have Light sensor sensitivity Strange that. But I have to say it isn't on my car it must be an optional extra which is annoying  with all the extras on the edition model. Thank you for your help anyway.

@JR RS What's the cheapest option for changing between dipped and high beams (automatically, depending on the oncoming traffic)?

Is it HBA? What is the minimum requirement? Can it be used with the inside mirror that has a sensor in the back?

As per my comment above, u need the A5 Camera to have HBA.

The light sensor at the back of the rear view mirror is no good for this purpose.

No other way unfortunately.

I asked because I remembered this post, where SashaGrace said that it can be done with a mirror.

from wat SashaGrace said - it can be done with a different camera.

as i said previously - u cannot use the light sensor on the back of the rearview mirror for HBA.
