Boot sill protection...?

Featured Replies

Hey hey,

Anyone know of any boot sill protection products out there?

I reckon the rear bumper is gonna get stratched to bits by the dog's nails as he struggles in and jumps out over the typically VAG high estate sill. The solution so far is me throwing an old towel over the bumper as he gets in, but in his hurry to jump out he's occasionally winging it before I can get said towel in place.

Something moulded to the relavent shape that can be put on and removed easily, as well as driven with in place would be the ultimate, but I doubt something like this exists.

Ideas...?

mines already got a few scratches....I currently have put a rug in the bag which I just fold out

Perhaps you need one of these (  only in America!!)

Why dont you get transparent bodywork protectors like stuff on the sill of

the car. I have used this on my bike and its great doesnt show up any

scratches and can be taken of without damage to the paint.

I know you can get it in bikes shops or you could try this web site.

I've ordered a bootsuit, which apparently folds down to cover the bumper.

I'll let you know when it arrives whether it covers well. It would have the added benefit of leeping hairs out of the boot! May make the dog slode around a bit though.

Thanks for that, Paul. Just visited the website - looks good.

In the pics, with some cars the bumper doesn't look too well covered, other looks OK.

Do you have Estate or Hatch?

Will be a definite purchase if the Octy version is in the well covered category.

I have the estate, but it's an elegance, so has the raised false floor. They do a bootsuit especially for this model. I assume it would be quite easy to attack a longer flap to it, maybe made out of a thick sheet of plastic if it needed to be longer.

They do them for both the false floor and standard. Shame (for my purchase decision making :) ) it's not exactly the same. Would still be interested in pics, tho...

Cheers,

I'll be more than happy to post pics when it arrives.

I agree Hatchbags do look good, but are pretty pricey once you add the options.

Here's some photos of the bootsuit.

I'm really impressed with it, but I cant imagine how it would work without the raised floor.

Three photos are attached, one in closed up mode, it's fully waterproof like this. The second is with the flap down for loading and boot sill protection, not bad protection, but you still will have to be a bit careful, and the third with both end flaps down and the card in estate mode. It covers thw while floor like this, pretty cool.

The covering you can see is the optional anti-slip mat.
