I have just purchased a 2016 Superb Sportline Wagon having moved from a 2014 Superb Outdoor 4x4. I am considering moving to a 235/40 x 19 tyre to a 235/45 x 19 tyre to give the car a little more compliance over very badly potholed roads. I did this also on my previous Outdoor with 18" wheels for the same reason. Has anyone done this successfully on a Sportline ? I am a little concerned about the lower tyre clearance in the guards ?

Many owners with the 19" wheels have switched to 245/40/19 tyres, including myself.

It is more comfortable (thicker sidewall), wider, cheaper and more readily available.

Speedo is also more accurate.

 

This was when I had the original 19" rims, now I have aftermarket market rims, same tyres though.

Thanks JR - do you ever have the tyre foul the guard at full travel or does it clear totally ?

If it's not lowered u will have no issues.

Mine was lowered and with spacers then - still no issues.

Mine is now still lowered, but no spacers - no issues.

Running 245/40/19 with Eibach pro kit on mine, with no issues at all. 

Interesting that everyone has gone for wider tyres 245 width. On my last Superb I went the other way and went for the same width and up from a 40 profile to a 50 profile to give more sidewall. I will head into a tyre fitting place and have a discussion with them - great to know that a 245 will not foul the guards !

235/45/19 tyres throws the speedo way off as it's much bigger with a 13% thicker sidewall.

The 245/40/19 profile will see a sidewall increase of 5%.

 

What brand are you guys running on " 245/40R19 " need to change my Goodyear Eagle F1.

My previous ones were Continental Conti MaxContact6. Did 50k+ kms on it.

Now I'm running MaxContact7. Fitted about 2 months ago.

I've used 2 sets of tyres in my 8+ yrs of ownership thus far - on my 3rd set now.
