Infotainment- intermittent sound coming on

Hi. The sound is not on but the unit works, touchscreen etc. Then after a random amount of time it can come on and will be fine until I leave the car. I get back in and no sound again (except on 2 occasions). I drive a lot for work and road noise gets boring. Varying amounts of time for it to come on, sometimes it doesn't for the entire journey.  Any ideas?
