Engine parts enquiry

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

could I ask advise on how to find out what parts are fitted to my engine in 2013 mk3 1.6tdi .

car is fitted with engine code : CLHB 1.6 105hp.
trying to find out what style of water pump is is on it as I know there is switching type pump and standard style .
also how would I know what style of thermostat is used as again choice of metal standard type and also a plastic type .

without dismantling the engine to see what each components are fitted and having to do the job twice is there any way of telling by using engine number or chassis number so I could go to motor factors and buy the parts to give to garage to replace them as at age/ mileage need done .

I have been to one local factors and they can’t tell me just gave me prices for both styles of parts and said come back when know what is used on the engine after stripping civets off etc.

any advise be greatly appreciated

normal water pump on this engine I reckon, at that year it will be EU5

You can prove ths by looking for the connector if you look at the engine from a birds eye view, there is a brown connector and wiring between the cam pulley and the HPFP pulley on the engine side of the edge of the timing belt cover.

Thanks , superbtwm.
will hopefully get a look at the weekend when off shift

whip off top engine cover and look for that brown connector plug

do I need take the top timing belt cover  off as well to see the plug or is it tucked in beside the hpfp ?

I’ll get a picture of it later on this evening rather than trying to explain. I’ll see if your engine code is in my manuals as well, that should give a definitive answer but I’m 99% sure it’s just a normal pump.
