DSG oil change at 4 year service, 20k miles?

Featured Replies

I'd be interested in opinions on whether I should have the DSG oil changed at the upcoming (end of Feb) 4 year service, but only 20k miles.

The official schedule for DQ381 seems to be at 80k miles. An oldish service cost illustration lists DSG oil change at 4 year/40k miles, and then 8 year/80k miles.

Is there any age related deterioration of the oil, or should I only consider an oil change at 40k miles at the earliest?

Model: MY21 1.5 DSG TSI

Thanks

Id think you would be fine to let it go a bit longer unless you have some sort of extended warranty then I'd get it done.

The cost is going to be a couple of hundred. Are you keeping the car for 100k miles? Maybe change it. If not, maybe don't. I just got mine changed at 120k kms after it was done at 60, and there were no comments, so... it's entirely up to you.

I’m in almost exactly the same situation as the OP, though in my case it’s a Karoq 2.0TSI. DQ381.

I’ve been pricing this up with a view to getting it done sooner rather than later.

Oil and filter change at a dealership is going to be somewhere north of three hundred. The three quotes I had were all within a couple of quid of £330.

Quotes from independents (none of whom needed to be asked if they would change the filter) ranged from £280 to £370 .

For what it’s worth, those are not London or Home Counties prices.

Wtf? Had my DSG oil/filter changed/cleaned at the last service and it cost me about £90 - at a main dealer.

@Yogi-Bear  Was that on a DQ381 DSG or a DQ500?    That just covered the cost of the Consumables not even the labour?

Are you certain that is what the charged and the filter was changed.

@SimonB68  DSG,s like a DQ250 or a DQ381 are not serviced by year and a DQ250 is not at 4 years unless that is @ 40,000 miles,

a DQ381 is at 80,000 miles or sooner, but 4 years is not relevant.

Dunno, old fruit.

It’s been a lot more than ninety quid on those Skoda maintenance chart things that Mr Ooto has been posting for ages.

A lot more.

And that might not have included the filter either.

If I could get mine done at a main dealer for ninety quid, I’d make sure I never forgot to send them a Christmas card.

Haldex was £90 without cleaning or changing Filter @ Main Dealers, went to £110. .

DSG,s have been over £200 for a few years now.   Maybe £175 with a DQ250 at an independent.

4 Years ago.  Cars 3-10 year old Fixed Price at Main Dealers Fixed Price Servicing.

It can be cheaper at Main Dealers not Participating.

Bottom,   They know how to charge...That was 3 years ago.

🤦‍♂️

Apologies. Getting confused in my old age. Yes, it was the Haldex I had done, not the DSG. Nearest dealer wanted to charge £130, but Winner Garage in Cinderford did it for £90.

Too many oils and fluids need changing these days 😞.
