As i just recently had an interview for an higher IT post here at the university i work, and just found out that i got it... so thought a treat was the order of the day.

Saw the above and thought that it would look quite sweet in the octy double din.

Any comments or reviews on these good or bad? etc

A lot of money to waste if they're a pile of carp

thx,

Lee

Agreed, about time we had some decent double din HUs. I quiet like some of the otthers they have to.

It really does look a nice piece of kit, i presume that the front comes completely off, as i can see the open button top right, but am not sure if thet can, in the same way that HU' s can be disconnected?

Will play all dvd/ cd/ mp3, divx etc etc formats too! which is a bonus. A dvd full of mp3's - how many hours of continuous music lol

may have to see if i can see it somewhere working before ordering it online

If it is available in black I'd get that one, mainly because, when switched off it will look very OEM in the Skoda dash. The silver one will not.

I have a DVD MP3 head unit and it currently has 1011 tracks on the disc as variable rate WMA's.

Does the promotion mean every PC in the Uni will be folding ? ;)

Goochie, yes its available in black. I think as the model number is slightly different.

Yeah i know what your saying, but a part of me wanted it to stand out lol Think the black would be better, gonna be getting my windows tinted anyway first, before this goes in, that coupled with proximty from the clifford should hopefully deter would be thieves.

As for the job, yes there may well be a possibility, as iam moving into a new building, as we have just won a major Nursing and Midwifery contract from Sheffield University(am an hallam employee). With over 300 new machines to be rolled out over the next few months, and 1800 new nursing students to err support ;)

Its an hard life :P

Thing is - i've never heard a good JVC stereo in my life...

i think mine sounds good but not as nice as my alpine before it did :)

the face will not be removable, that open button flips the screen down so you eject the disc sadly :(

ever considered a dvd head unit and fold out 7" screen for those times you want to watch a film/tv etc

i have the JVC ax1 and watch films on the 3" screen but am planning on getting a 7" fold out dash screen for when i am stationary :)

I'm not being funny but why on earth would you want to watch a dvd on a 3" screen in your car ? (or 7" for that matter)

the reason that it only has a 3" screen is because its not a fold out display and the face is removable, see what other DVD head units you can y that have a screen and the whole face is removable ;)

in a car a 7" screen is perfectly big enough as your face is only about 18" away from it :)

Granted, but why would you want to watch a film in your car in the 1st place ? The screen is in totally the wrong place for a start. I'm not trying to be be an ****, I'm just intriguied !

why would you want to listen to the radio? or a cd? for entertainment :)

sure, but you can do that and drive at the same time ;-)

the same as i can listen to a film while my passenger watch a film.

on a long journy those not driving can get quite bored, keep them occupied with a good disney film :D

well yeah I guess so. Whatever floats you boat ! Having just picked up my VRS I guess you upgraded the speakers then ? The standard ones suck ****.

yup, some MB Quart components at the front and left the rears standard for now.

Where do you hide the crossovers ?

had a fairly productive weekend though, finally fitted my new amp(that i bought last november :o ) to replace the two seperate amps that ran my front/rear speakers :)
