I’ve almost decided to go for the Skoda / Vw ‘All-In’ package.

My 280 Superb is 3 years old at the end of the month, it’s low mileage at less than 2000 per year, only ever drunk ‘super’ and only comes out in good weather.

The price is £900 and includes 2 services, mot’s, AA cover and, most importantly, 2 years extended warranty.

If I dismiss the AA which I’ve already got for our runabout the warranty is costing about £400 which I don’t think is unreasonable?

Anyone got any negative opinions or tales of woe to dissuaed me?  

Based on dealer/VWFS pricing, it is definitely a saving. Annual extended warranty is in the £200/250 a year range (I know this as I did it for several years back when I had my Rapid Spaceback), AA cover has gone up to £120 a year (just had the renewal for my Fabia on that), so over two years, that alone is nearly £750 if you do it separately, add in another £110 for two years of MOTs and we are up to £860 and that's before servicing. Also, I noticed there's no premium for paying monthly, so £38 a month to know everything is covered is very tempting. If Skoda is still offering it in 18 months when my Superb is out of both warranty and service plan, I would definitely buy into it.

You can also cancel mid way through if you want to, if paying monthly. Useful if you think you might move the car on.

Mine is out of warranty at the end of June and will almost definitely go for it.

It does get a few more miles though!

My All-In package just run out on my Superb and I was paying £25 a month for 2 years. In that time I had the 2 services, both normal and extended scope, 2 MOT's, filters, sparks, etc. and used the extended warranty a handful of times for a rear door card change (ambient light failure), fuel flap issue and fuel overflow pipe replacement.

 

In my opinion it was worth it, but I would say it all comes down to how competent your local Skoda dealer is as well. In the first 1.5 years, I had no issues, but in the last 6 months due to staff changes, it became a nightmare to get a service and warranty work booked into before the service plan expired.

If my car wasn't over the age threshold, I would definitely have renewed it, along with finding another Skoda dealer. But I just cannot agree with the standard service plans not including the yearly MOT in that price.

I'm not sure this is helpful, but may be worth checking. For various reasons I took out the Skoda extended warranty, rather than the all in package. I seem to recall that in some manner the separate extended warranty I have offers slightly better cover than the all in, though the details escape me now. Have a check of both sets of cover terms before deciding perhaps. They may now be in sync, or they may not 

I went for the extended warranty alone, because the AA cover in the all-in package was just for the car and UK-only, no option to extend it to Europe, or even RoI. That will obviously depend on your own circumstances and where you drive, but probbaly worth considering. I went for separate personal breakdown cover, to have both our cars covered.

I have just gone back and looked at the Ts and Cs for All In. Your post above @SteveMcK is incorrect. All In breakdown cover IS THE SAME level as the regular £120 a year Škoda Assist and DOES include European coverage.

Fair enough, perhaps I misunderstood or wasn't clear. Outside the UK it seems that they will have someone attend to the vehicle, and either repair it on the spot or tow it to a local garage, but that's all. They will not bring it back home from abroad, which is what I wanted.

Yes, they will bring the car back! Repatriation to the UK is very specifically stated as included in the Ts and Cs I posted above. 

Regards the used  'All-in from Skoda' they do have sales a couple of times a year, one of which is usually around November but sadly I don't recall the other time, where they reduce the overall plan price by £200 so if you are in a hurry then it might be worth waiting and purchasing when the price drops. My understanding is that if there is an issue with the vehicle and you are unable to get an appointment prior to the plan expiring then Skoda will still honour the plan as wait times can sometimes be weeks. Do be mindful that I believe the T&C's for the warranty cover are more restrictive than a warranty provided by Skoda if you purchase a used vehicle through them. When it comes to MOT's it might be that some dealers could be creative with failing a vehicle to gain work -  not my personal experience but a friends. On a positive note, dealers are generally very positive when it comes to the dreaded metatronic failure and should this happen to your vehicle then the repair alone will cover the cost of the plan.

Interesting, I suppose it depends on how you interpret "Recovery" versus "Repatriation". Section 5 does indeed say "ŠKODA Roadside Assistance may in Our absolute discretion either:
a) Vehicle repatriation to the United Kingdom Arrange and cover the cost of taking the Vehicle by a road transporter from abroad to Your Home or chosen United Kingdom repairer for repair in the United Kingdom. When repatriation is authorised it normally takes 10-14 working days for delivery to a United Kingdom address
", yet section 2 says "(b) Recovery
Recovery has the same features and limitations as Roadside but with the following variations: Recovery operates only in the United Kingdom.
".

I think the main thing is to read the small print and make sure it works for you. In my case separate personal cover for my wife & I in any car was a better option, but as always your own personal circumstances will vary.
