Manifold flap delete

Featured Replies

Good evening all,

has anyone fit an inlet manifold flap delete kit before? Just wondering if I need the kit or if I can just take the flaps out. I’m a mechanic and will be doing it myself, just wanna know if the kit is actually needed.

VRS TDI, engine code CEGA
thanks

Hey, i've not fitted a kit myself but have tried the P2015 fix bracket thingy but nothing has helped me so interested in what you find out.

I have the same vehicle and engine as well I've changed the motor, manifold, and used the bracket but still getting the P2015 error. I did enquire about programming out the swirl flaps and was told they are involved in the regen cycle so will clog the DPF eventually but seeing as I have had faulty flaps for a couple of years now, the DPF is doing fine.

So, I didn’t diagnose anything tbh, I just took the manifold off, took all the flaps out, took the motor off and threw it all in the bin. Absolute pants idea if you ask me. All they’re supposed to do is make the idle smoother, but my car actually idles smoother now than it ever has before.

Plus, I’ve seen many cars get scrapped because the flaps fall off, break up, and get sucked into the engine. Then hey presto, no compression.

While I was there I cleaned out the EGR (which does nothing) and throttle body, and replaced all gaskets.

The inlet manifold flaps have absolutely no part in the DPF regeneration.

Drives much smoother, quicker and more responsive.

If I were you (which I was) I’d get them out before they fail.

Let me know if I can be of any help 🤘🏽

?I like the idea of just ripping it out but does that still leave the MIL on with the codes still showing?

No, not if you have it removed from the ECU (mapped out)

Yeah thought as much. Just need to find someone in the area now :) thanks for the update
