Key symbol in cup holder

Featured Replies

I noticed in my SEL that one the front cup holder then is a symbol of a key with a wifi type symbol. Just curious as to what it means? It could mean it's somewhere to put your key, but I assume not as surely that would defeat the point of a cup holder?

No issues at all just spotted it and was curious

It’s for when the battery in the key fob is dead. Use the metal key blade in the key fob to open the drivers door. Then place the fob on the symbol on the cup holder. Press the start button.

It should be covered during handover as otherwise you could get stranded.

Thank you letting me know. The handover I had was very thorough but they didn't mention this so I'm glad I asked.

I thought I had a good handover but this wasn't pointed out to me either. Thanks CedWing

I think noone does mention it since you get plenty notification about dead key battery and you have spare keys that will still work after your main will be dead.

As Cedwing mentioned, this is the spot for the key to unlock the immobiliser when the key itself cannot do it wirelessly.
