Normal headlights to vrs

Featured Replies

So right now i have normal halogen headlights which are nothing special. But i really like the vRs ones (il include pictures below if i find them) What would i need to do to make them function like a normal feature? I know you need a levelling sistem so the xenon lights face downwards if the car is facing upwards or something like that? What would the steps by steps be? What would i need to buy and install? Is there a video of some sort? And is it worth it? Thanks.

Xenon’s are or were not a popular option here in the UK. It was an optional extra which wasn’t ticked. Most vRS’s here have the normal halogen. However, our L&K variant all came with xenon’s. So, if you want the xenon’s you can get a loom from Kufatec which is an adaptor which will allow you to use them.

Just an aside - in the UK, you cannot convert your existing headlights to Xenon or LED. You have to replace the entire headlight unit.

Similarly, you must also have an automatic self-levelling system, by law. This is because they can be blinding to other drivers if you have, say, a large corpse in the boot.

Frankly, if you're doing all that I would look at LED's anyway. Xenon's are quite expensive, and not quite as blinding as the LEDs on 99% of cars on the road.

Yes I am aware of this. The law applies here in Slovenia too. I was just wondering what the process of installing it was. If its difficult and expensive etc. Thanks though!

If you're EU it will probably be even more restrictive. Just a shame they don't limit the output of LED headlights like they do in the US!

Are you after something like this?

No not really. The only lights i like are the xenon ones. (Ones above) The ones you linked i saw but i feel it just wouldnt look right. Maybe a bit ricey. Didnt see them on an octavia yet so idk how to feel about them. I figured after this post i will just instal white halogens for low beam and maybe for high too. For the blinkers il use an US module.

You'd need all the wiring, levelling units, 5L water bottle, headlight washers with piping, VCDS/Vagcom to connect to the lights and code them, and set them into learning mode to get the right height/level. It is quite involved, and you'll need to know what you're doing.

The best bet is to just buy the adaptor loom and connect them to the existing loom and hope the police in Slovenia are nice... 😂

Il probably pass for now haha. Will keep in mind. Might be my last mod if anything to be honest. Thanks tho.

Have you considered fitting higher wattage headlamp bulbs? I upgraded my mk1 to 100W with new bulbs and the headlamps worked really well without untoward beam scatter. Even Mr MoT passed the car several years running without query.

Just ordered white H4 bulbs. Didnt go for osram night breakers since they were a little expensive. So i just went for some white ish ones from aliexpress too and bought the fog lights aswell with the position lights too. For like 12 eur. So hopefully it will turn out okay.
