Rear wiper motor dead!

Featured Replies

When my rear wiper motor stopped working, I checked Fuse number F41 and found that the 15-amp fuse was blown. I replaced it, but it blew again, which indicated there was a problem. Upon inspecting the motor, I discovered that it was filled with water! The leak was coming from the pipe into the mechanism, and the rubber seal was worn out. I decided to buy a new motor, which arrived today. I refitted it and installed a new 15-amp fuse in F41, hoping for the best, and it did not move. However, when I used my multimeter to check the voltage, I found no current going to the motor, and the fuse showed no voltage, even though it wasn’t blown. I replaced the fuse again, but the motor still wouldn’t move. I took off the motor and plug from

my battery it moves. What could be wrong?

They maybe a problem in the wiring loom, maybe through the tailgate feed wires, next to the hinges.

You have one set each side. Peel back the rubber tube and check the wires aren't broken.

I have looked at both hoses at the tailgate, peeled off both tapes, no damage to the wiring loom! Weird, I am not sure what else to look at? If I don't get many responses few days, I shall go to my local Autocar Electrical.

Your problem, as you said, is that there is no supply to the fuse.

Likely causes are:

1) the upstream fuse has also blown. Sometimes happens. Check to see what other things have no supply or look for a larger fuse that has blown.

2) a corroded connection or wire in the upstream supply.

On my Octavia the wiper won't work if the boot is open. I assume theres a switch in the boot lock mechanism. Caught me out before including the front.

Found the 50amps fuse on the engine bay number F29 had green corrosion on the pins, instead of a new fuse now the wiper is back to normal bilmey🙄
