Running without a CAT???

Featured Replies

How do these exhausts run without a cat (eg.Impreziv). What do they do about the O2 sensors? do they use racing cats? whats their deal.. i e-mailed them.. and no reply. So does anyone here know the deal?

IIRC, the Impreziv decat exhaust just does way with the cats. The lamba sensors are just screwed back in to the decat pipe.

This however does cause the CEL (check engine light) light to come on regularly but you then just clear it using VAGCOM.

Milltek do a sports cat in 200cel and 100cel applications. Most people go for the 200cel (the sport cat is built into a new down-pipe) as the 100cel will generate a CEL (suppossedly) and fail the UK MOT test.

The probes just then fit into the new cat...no problems.

HTH.

100 CPI doesn't cause CEL (I have one).

Full decat is marginal on the MOT (yes, I got mine tested before I swapped it with Des). What it will fail for is that the car has no CAT, not emissions, although I don't think thats likely to be a problem in the UAE :D

I bow before thy greater knowledge...as usual...Jon. ;)

I was told this by a supplier (it wasn't Disco or Elton ;) ) when looking into getting the Milltek......b**ger...so I could have got one.

My ex RS was tested before part ex and it passed with no reading at all on the MOT testing equipment (Air con off) and Engine light came on once. I have had a Milltek sports cat for thousands of miles and I never had a light come up.

well u'll be suprized, here in the UAE they are implimenting a law that says that all cars must have a CAT by 2005 i think? so can i put a racing cat on the system and plug in the sensors into it? will the engine light come on? because i know a check engine light will cause me to fail the registration test... u can have F16 engine under ur hood here.. as long as it doesn;t have faulty brakes, bad tyres etc, and its not too loud, it will pass.. u wanna hear something funny.. my freind is running slicks on his car (VW polo) he took it for passing and the guy told him he had to change his tires.. my friend was like they are brand new!! the guy said, no they are worn out...hahah see :D and ofcourse if worse comes to worse.. there are always people who know people who know people... thats what i love about the arab culture.. laws are just there.. if u know the right people.. they don't apply.. :D
