Clutch pedal not returning, intermittent.

Featured Replies

Hi, does anyone have any history regarding the above clutch pedal?, happend once 3 weeks ago then again yesterday but much more often.

checked cylinder in footwell, all connected, no signs of leakage. A quick spray of wd40 just to see if it made a difference. Not happend today but only short journey up to yet.

Do these gradually fail or one of those that fall off a cliff

Question is, is it master/slave cylinder? I understand there is something inside the gearbox too?

Looked at clutch kits (over £600) but very low mileage cant be worn yet!!!!

Cylinder Replacements approx £70.

You need to differentiate between the action of the clutch and the pedal returning to it's "home position.

If the clutch is working fine then the issue is likely in the clutch pedal or the master cylinder. AFAIK the master cylinder has a built in return spring. Possible this spring has cracked or has been mis-assembled.

Thankyou Aldfort.

Intermittent problems always the hardest to solve. Clutch works fine, hill start in high gear, fine no problems, pulls well when floored. fluid new and topped up no leaks visible from the footwell. it has to be the cylinder, in garage tomorrow to check underside and maybe wheel arch cover removed to look for end float in gearbox.

Thanks
