Software update on my MIB

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice on updating the infotainment system in my 2018 Škoda Superb. I believe I have an MIB2 High Columbus system, and I’d like to update it to the latest firmware to improve performance and fix some issues (like the SW Train version showing as dashes). I’d really appreciate your help in choosing the right firmware and guiding me through the process.

My System Details

Here are the details from my infotainment system:

  • Part Number: 5Q0035840C

  • Software Version: H29.319.29.3.STD2Plus_EU

  • SW MU Version: 0468

  • SW Train Version: --- (it only shows dashes)

  • HMI Software: H29.319.29.3.STD2Plus_EU

  • Skin Short: SKODA_STD_Skin_C_80_S-STD2PLUS_EU-3

  • Skin SPF Filename: Skoda_STD_Skin_C_80_S.spf

My system is an MIB2 High Columbus with an 8-inch screen, and I’m pretty sure it supports SmartLink (Android Auto/Apple CarPlay) and navigation. I’m not sure if I have a Canton sound system, but I’ll check with VCDS later today.

My Goal

I want to update my system to the latest firmware to improve stability, SmartLink compatibility, and overall performance. I’ve heard that MHI2_ER_SKG11_K3343 (SW MU 1433) might be the latest version for my system, but I’m not sure if it’s compatible or how to proceed safely due to the version gap (from SW MU 0468 to 1433).

My Questions

  1. What is the latest firmware version for my MIB2 High Columbus (5Q0035840C)? Is MHI2_ER_SKG11_K3343 the right choice, or is there a newer version I should consider? or maybe the SKG11 is wrong?

  2. How should I update safely? I’ve read that a direct update might cause a "Train is locked" error due to the version gap. Should I use intermediate firmware versions, and if so, which ones do you recommend?

  3. Where can I download the firmware? I’ve checked the Škoda Update Portal, but I’m not sure if the files I need are available. Does anyone have a reliable source?

  4. Are there any risks I should be aware of? For example, will SmartLink or navigation need reactivation after the update? If I have a Canton sound system, will I need to adjust anything afterward?

I am thankful for any help.

Another question from a "non tech user" - my 2017 Superb has :

Device part number : 3V0035045C

Hardware : H50

Software : 0702

System Information 1st line : CLU6_MMX2_SK_ER_G11_138PROD-1

I have tried looking up its details on the MIB Product Number database but it does not recognise any of these details ??

Any help in guiding me to an appropriate update would be appreciated - it keeps on shutting down Android Auto on long trips and sometimes becomes difficult to get past the Smartlink screen on startup.

I thought this might be an indication of the firmware needing updating ?

@GreggFare put installed sw train version here for check https://mib-helper.com/

For android auto use quality USB cable, cheap cables can cause similar problem as your.

I cannot locate SW train - been through all the drop downs in System Information. Is it hidden elsewhere ? Sorry about the stupid q20250425_114350.jpguestions !
