How to tell if used Superb has active lane guidance

Featured Replies

We have a 2016 Superb which is great but we will likely replace it with a newer model in the next year, guessing 2020/2021. I have found the adaptive cruise control very helpful in long drives and a key consideration for a new car is the amount of self driving features. As far as I can see, the best I can do is adaptive cruise control, active lane guidance (ie drives between lines not just telling you off if you stray out of lane), and traffic jam assist if we got the auto.

But the problem is - how can I tell via Autotrader or similar whether a car has these features? Most of the adverts don’t even list the ACC and I can see the stalk. Is it likely the higher specs will have these as standard or do I really have to go to the dealer, get the keys, turn on the menu and see which options are available? This seems bizarre. Some of the adverts include the feature to hold your parking ticket, but make no mention of any of these actual useful functions.

Adaptive cruise is an excellent innovation, but as for the other add-ons that technology has brought, such as lane assist and traffic jam assist, they’re now always off.

Hi,

Except asking to the dealer, it's hard to know if it's fitted with Lane Assist just based on pictures...

All you can see is a specific button on the MFSW to access all driver's assistance functions. However, if ht MFSW does have this button, it's not sure the Lane Assist function will be installed.

Cars with Travel Assist have an additonal button on the steering wheel.

On the right hand side there is an extra fourth button, top right on the cluster, with a car/road/clock icon. Cars without Travel Assist have a blank in the same place.

Take a good look at the Autotrader/advert photos and this can usually be seen.

(This function is in additon to 'standard' ACC)

Unfortunately no way to check without switching on the car and checking the Assist menu to see if it has the option for "Adaptive Lane Guidance".

This is in addition to the basic Lane Assist.images (23).jpeg

Another way, though not always the case, is to look at the camera type on the front windscreen - if it has the A5 (triangle) camera, then u have the hardware, and is likely enabled.
