Hello Skoda people.

I've posted already (and bought summ't off the classifieds!) but just looking around the site I see I should have introduced myself.

I bought an Octavia SLX (110bhp TDi) hatch at an auction back in May. I was looking for a car with the VAG TDi as I'm a confirmed diesel-head and need big car (ideally an estate but hey, the hatch is pretty big). My last car was the old faithful Peugeot 405 GTD Estate (in white) dull but extremely capable.

So I was looking at OLD Audi A6's (usually 100's) with monster milage, Golf Estates - nice but rare and they hold value, or the occasional Passat or Octavia(usually taxi's). Well what can I say, I've ended up a car newer, lower milage and better equiped than I was hoping for.

And you know, even my mates are saying that actually, despite being a Skoda, its not bad at all. That coming froma a Golf GTdi driver who should no better and a Toyota Avensis company car river who, really, hasn't got a leg to stand on, driving one of the blandest cars around.

So there you go, I'm even 'modifying' it (slightly) with a VRs boot spoiler as the back end reminds me of a Vauxhall Belmont (remember them?) and once i get the ARB bushes and hesitancy (I think its air filter or MAF) then I'll be sorted.

I'm liking the website esp the Forum. There's a quality on here that sets it apart from the Frenchcarforum (nice guys but driving 10 year old Xantias) and the VW Volksworld site (nice guys but a bit, you know, nuts?) This is more like the Porsche websites - high praise indeed but then a lot of you are driving 170bhp + machines with big money being spent on them so maybe the comparison is justified.

(I did own a Porshe for a while - 1971 914. But thats another story)

Cheers,

Marcus.

Hey! Ex-405 driver!

They're similar, but the Pug has the wheels fixed to the body with metal bits, not gas.

I did try a 160k Xantia. It was, how to say it, a bit loose.

Welcome to the forum, plenty for you to investigate on here and any questions you have just ask away

Hi, and welcome
