CAI Venting

Featured Replies

I have a CAI that sits behind the bumper but from what i can see there is only a very small hole to feed air behind there and there is a nice big horn unit sitting right in front of that, this cant be getting enough cold dense air

How can i rectify this problem without cutting the death out of the front bumper ?

Drill holes in the 'pseudo-mesh-vent' in the bumper.

Watch out for water ingress.

Move the horn...just undo the bolts and swivel to one side.

You can cut out or drill holes in the plastic cover below where the air filter sits. I'll try and get a pic on here of mine...

Consider covering the holes on the inside with some old tights or breathable cloth, it helps keep the filter clean, keeps dust, bugs, spray out etc...

I know it sounds PIKEY but no-one can see it unless they end up with their head under your front bumper???

I fitted my CAI last night and was about to ask the same question, then I see this post :)

Ps, love the sound of the CAI :):):):)

So, is it worth taking the bumper off, then taking the right side grill out to drill it properly? (if this is possible?)

Ps, pics would be cool.

The black plastic grilles just pull out. Need a good tug though!

You could always get some Milotec grilles - they're wire mesh.

How much of a tug is needed? and do they pull out at the front or the back?

Do they just clip back in place?

Cheers

Indeed, seen many an engine go bang because of this.

Just grab em and pull em, both sides are the same and yes they just push back into place.

P.S pull them forward ;)

Cheers, always easier when you see pics :)

Will ave a drill at the weekend.

I was thinking, the filter is on the right side of the grill, so if i drill the left side (more or less the same as the 2nd pic) will water still get in? and is it worth putting some black tights over the back to help keep stuff out??

Im sure the miss's has some :)

Ha ha, funny you should mention black tights... I did that with my last car.

Yes, i would (and will) it'll help stop dust too. ;)

cool, drilled the holes over the weekend, so just need to ladder the misses tights!!! wonder how? :)

I find the easiest way to ladder a pair of tights is to wear them, urm so i'm told...:o

lol :)
