Tick over speed change

Featured Replies

Ever since I have owned my 2018 Karoq with the 1.6 tdi engine and auto gearbox, it has ticked over at a steady 1000 rpm. Up until now it has always been serviced by my local Skoda Dealer. Now with 28000 miles on the clock I opted to have an MOT and Full Service at a local independant who has an excellent reputation. After the service the tick over is a steady 750 rpm. The local garage says that before service that there were no fault codes. The MOT was a pass with no advisories. They have no idea why it has changed. Does it make any difference what the rpm is or is one wrong.

Was that AC on and 1,000? Seems a but high if it sat at that with DSG in N.

Is the 750 rpm an issue for you. Engine ticking over rougher?

Is it 750 rpm with AC on and DSG in N and the same when in D and foot on brake pedal?

1_000 rpm seems high to me on a hot engine. That said, 750 seems a little low with a slushbox; I'd expect more like 850.

Not a slush box though, just a DQ200 DSG (Semi -Automatic) 7 speed twin dry clutch fitted to a 1.6 TDI CR.

(absence of a Torque Converter.)

A TSI might start at 1,100 and drop in 40 seconds or so to 850 rpm.

In P or in N.

OP's description of gearbox now in bold. Point taken?

Skoda have only done Semi - Automatic so DSG or Automated Manuals ASG,s in Europe from many a year now.

There are 8 Speed Auto,s available in some world regions.

The idle revs of my VW 2.0 TDI would vary between 800 and 1200 depending on outside temp and whether a regen had been interrupted.
