Yippeeeee I Have Found Out What Rattle At The Front Of My Fabia

Featured Replies

After 6months and about 10 garages trying to find out where the rattle in my fabia is coming from I found it last night. Everytime i went over a bump or rough road i can hear a rattle from the front of the drivers side. Every garage checked the roll bars and bushes BUT DIDNT check the WHEEL. Last night i kicked the wheel and heard the rattle so i knew it was coming from there(i should have done this before). Well it seems that there is a problem with the caliper as the rattle is coming from the BRAKE PAD moving freely and knocking against the caliper everytime i go over a bump or drive on rough road. So its going to the garage monday THANK GOD:D :D :D :D :D

Was the sound a definite rattle or more of a grinding sound?

I only ask as I'm trying to source a noise on my Octavia.

cheers,

I have had this sound in my car, it only last for the few seconds it takes me to drive down my (bumpy) road then its gone, maybe i have the same minor prob.

I get that too. Mines on the passanger side though. Its more like a faint knock than a rattle. Maybe i should try kicking mine to see if it makes the noise

Ouch! My foot

Pads shouldnt rattle in the calipers.

You are right the pads shouldnt rattle but the drivers side is!!!!!!

It seems there is something wrong with the caliper on that side.

The garages i have been to didnt even consider it as they were adamant it was a suspension problem roll bars link rods etc etc

Its going into the garage on monday but i am so happy the noise will be gone.

The noise sounds like metal knocking on metal and its only on rough ground!!!!

You see, tyre kicking works!

Can you take a picture of said caliper?

Sounds like the pads arent fitted correctly.
