Fabia headlight lens replacement

Hi all,

I'm aware that the easiest thing to do here it is to replace the whole headlight assembly, but I want to avoid this if at all possible.

Does anyone have any experience replacing the clear plastic outer lenses on fabia headlights? One of mine has sustained damage - I have a scrap headlight assembly that is unsuitable for slotting into the car but has a perfectly servicable lens.

So what I need to do, is remove the lenses from both assemblies, and replace the damaged one with a fresh one. Does anyone have any experience doing this? It looks as though the metal clips pictured hold the lense in place.

My initial thoughts were to warm the edges with a heatgun to get everything more pliable, and try and work the clips out before replacing and resealing. Does anyone have any useful tips/other suggestions on this?
