Service record and next service due

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if it's possible to see the full service history for your car? Gone are the days of a stamp in the logbook, but I can't for the life of me find the service record in the app. It only tells me I might have booked the car in last August, no mention of mileage or anything.

Reason for asking... Skoda have emailed me saying I'm due a service, however I asked to be put on intermittent servicing and the car hasn't yet told me it needs another service. According to the app my next service is due in 1400 miles. Due to the lack of service record I've no idea when, or at what mileage the last service was carried out.

Maybe I'll start writing it down on a piece of paper I keep in the glove box....

In the app, the service record should be in the digital certificate: Inspect --> Car Details and scroll to the bottom

Cheers. The app tells me this is a paid service and when I select Activate it takes me to another page where the option is available under Care Connect. I'm not paying £36 a year to see my service record!

In which case, call the dealer and ask them, or drop in and they should be able to provide a printout (for hopefully less than £36 😉).

Likely as not their system hasn't been updated and is working on an annual service interval rather than variable.

This is exactly why I hate the app. They're just using it to make money.

Much as I try to embrace new tech I am still unashamedly old-school in many ways. I miss the service books. You knew where you were and the 'stamps' meant something. Now I insist on a printout from the dealer at the completion of each service. Sadly, digital service records are the norm for most(?) makes now.

Nothing wrong with digital records if you can find them easily. If they charge £36 a year for the app then that's no good unless you can access certain things like that on the app without paying?

Agreed, but since the digital info isn't free (and presumably unlikely to become so), the piece of paper at each service is my solution. Might as well have kept the service books!

If you don't have Care Connect, and I've never paid £36 for it in the two years I've subscribed to it (1-Month free then paid something like £22 for first year on offer then resubscribed when it was on offer again after about 6 months and paid £20 for this current second year which only started this month), then you can ask your local dealership service desk to print out the service history and i've never been charged for that by any car dealership be it VAG or non-VAG.

That's good but a pain in the arse. It should be free to access on the app.
