We are touring eastern Europe at the moment in our Motorhome. We have spent the last three or four days in the Czech Republic and so have kept an eagle eye out for fellow vRS’s. There are absolutely loads of Skoda‘s in the Czech Republic as you would imagine, from old to new. Even though there are so many and like here not that many MK1’s around, I did not see one vRS’s! We crossed into Poland on our way to the Auschwitz museum and about 30 miles in I saw a pretty tatty example parked up. That was a first!

Really surprising. I was hoping to see some nice tidy examples but sadly not. The majority by the looks of it were the ubiquitous diesel.

Seems to be becoming more the case in the UK now as well. Rarely see another VRS. I always check the MOT database for ones I see in images and they always seem to be off-road now, shame.

Because they're all being broken! Even this year I've seen 20+ being stripped down for spares and usually not a lot sells.

Yeah, I’d like to know what it is that’s making people just scrap/break them. Perhaps just wanting something modern or finding it too expensive to put through an MOT.

The ‘vRS’ stands for ‘victory Rally Sport’ and is the correct, and original, term used in the UK. Elsewhere, ŠKODA uses the simple ‘RS’. The RS, or ‘Rally Sport’ model dates to the 180 RS in the 1970s.

ŠKODA was forced to add the ‘v’ to the RS model when Ford, who use RS on their motorsport-themed models, threatened to file a lawsuit against them for using their famed acronym. Elsewhere, ŠKODA simply uses ‘RS’.

It is a great story often repeated and now likes fact and Skoda sticking up 'V',s (Churchill Like) to Ford and the Rally Sport.

Porsche obviously never needed to fight Ford or say on your bike we are here with RS.

& Chevrolet had RS badged cars in the 1960,s.

Though we are lucky it still says "RS" on the log book. 😁
