boot lid

Featured Replies

I do not seem able to lock the boot. It shuts fine but it does not lock. Any advice?

You use the key fob button to lock the doors but the boot doesn't lock too?

Yes that's right. The boot lid shuts and latches fine but it will not lock

Check the handbook, I think you can set the car up for different patterns of locking.

If you have the remote close by of course it will open so take the remote quite away from the car and then see if you can open it. If you cant its working properly. If you can its dealer time.

Problem solved-many thanks

You will have gathered that the Kamiq is new to me and it seems more complicated than my BMW 325d

Although I agree with you that it would be useful to know what the solution is in this partiocular case for future reference, your tone seems unnecessarily sharp - I am tempted to say that a nice person would have asked more politely and without the "shouting" by the use of block capitals.

Alright Im sorry you are offended I use capital for emphasis not shouting and if people provided the solution one wouldnt have to ask. There was a problem with boot catches and it would be good to know if this was one of them.. There you are I have edited it so you could perhaps remove the quote to keep thread integrity

I think the solution was provided in one of the answers.

If you use smart locking it locks everything with a single press on the fob. However by the time you walk round to check the boot it has probably decided you want to open it so it lets you.

You can "deadlock" the car, it explains how in the handbook, method varies a bit with trim level AFAIK.

Ok I only ever lock mine with the touch on the door handle and it locks everything But if you walk around the back to check and you have your remote in your pocket the boot will of course open. I only ever use the remote to lock car from inside the house if I have been mucking in the garage and I ALWAYS LOCK CAR IN THE GARAGE. Why, well VAG cars sit there if unlocked and say to themselves " Is he going to come and use me, maybe so I had better be ready" and has some stuff powered up. using battery. If you lock it it says " Oh goody I can have a sleep" and shuts everything down. Well u get what I mean.

I think you in part at least miss the point.

You apologise to me because you think I was offended, but offer no apology for suggesting that Topbox was not a nice person, while defending your use of capitals, which I have always understood to be the online equivalent of shouting, although maybe you didn't know that.

I agree that it would have been useful if Topbox had provided an explanation when he confirmed that the problem had been solved, but all that required from you was an enquiiry as to what the solution was, no need for comments on Topbox's nature or stressing the point by capitals or any other means of emphasis.

Face to face with Topbox would you have said what you wrote and stressed it as you did?

FYI it's still capitalised! FWIW, people tend to use bold or italics for emphasis. The options should be at the top of the comment box.

A) This is virtually every car made in the last fifteen years and B) you'll still find that a locked car made in the last few years will due far quicker than an unlocked car made in 2005. That's without app connectivity, Tesla-style sentry systems, etc.

Oh dear i have tried to edit the post but seems there must be a time limit. I regret my poor choice of words and should have said " It would be nice Etc"

However I seem to be the only one to offer a solution and it would be good to know if that was what was happening.

When I was into programming the Tiguan I actually kept documentation and published the whole lot step by step so others could benefit from it. So while I didnt ask in the correct manner I dont think its too much to ask what a solution was so all can benefit.

I have apologized so can we get back to the subject now.

Apologies readily accepted.

From my experience with my 2020 Kamiq, locking and unlocking appears to be far less complicated than what has been described, but then I went for the "press the button, lock everything" and similarly for unlocking. There is a boot only button on the key fob my wife sometimes, but I don't.

Does your car not have the little detent on both front door handles where when you get out you just touch it and car locks. To open it you jus put hand inside handle and it unlocks Mine is an LE model so may be different to the cheapies

Mine is an SE L ordered in January, 2020, with delivery for March, 2020, but actually arrived June 2020, presumably because of Covid situation. There is no indent on the front door handles, so I suppose that supply problems during Covid meant that that bit was omitted. The key fob has buttons for everything locked, lock/unlock boot only and unlock everything.

Ours is a May21 built, delivered August In Aus. Were sold as LE Luxury or Launch Edition 1.5 with all the gear, Electric boot etc Neighbour has a newer one but no electric boot, no electric driver seat and no Amundsen MMI lesser headlights. mine are now adaptive so i never have to dim them for oncoming traffic. My keyfob never leaves my pocket. No need. Tiguan was similar 2019 with all the fruit Electric everything plus some things VW said were impossible ...........But I must see if I can shut it from seat Tig would if you knew how.

Would be good if OP said what fixed it No shame in admitting they didnt know or think about it correctly. Also dont know the trim level so hard to say as they dont actually say if its electric or not
