vRS Glovebox and Gearknob

Featured Replies

Hi,

Me and me dad other day went down horners in bury and came away as owners of a lovely black 04 fabia vrs for 9500. It's not mint (36000 miles, few scratches which they said will be sorted out) but u can't argue with the deal he gave my dad

The glove box is likely to need replacing, but you may be able to find a good one at a scrappers or similar.

Gearknob-wise, I would (personally) not bother replacing it unless it's bad, and even then I'd probably get the dealer to sort it. No clue on cost but there are those who have access to pricing info that may be able to help you out there :)

PS Welcome to the site

THe Gear **** on my Superb hs some scuffs on it when I bought.

The dealer actually replaced it under warrenty.

A worn gearknob indicates it's been driven with one hand permanently on the stick - can cause problems with the gearlinkages - one to watch for and a definite sign of a poor driver. :thumbdwn:

The glove box is expensive - Priced it up and posted it a while ago for someone.

Gearkn0b isn't cheap either I'm afraid.

You should have told the dealer to replace these as part of the deal, they would have. ;)

You can only ask, but now the deal is done there is no incentive for them to do it.....

I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't - it is a lot of money. Circa £70 for the gear **** and £50 for the glove box lid.

£70 for the gearknob?!!? The standard gearknob for my CTR is only £50 and thats a solid piece of machined aluminum.

Why oh why is 'k n o b' in the swear filter on a car forum for christ sake!??!

It's complete with the Gaitor. Don't forget it says vRS so that puts the price up!!!

I supose being complete with the gaitor will bump the price up...

Both warranty items I would have thought.

Good point Lummox!  I didn't even think of that!! :o :O :o

will skoda pay for worn trim items when the car is into its 3rd year of warranty , i know ford wont pay for anything trim related after the 1st year is up ,unless you beg for it , and only then if its the original owner who is doing the begging

Cheers for the response, me and my dad have been discussing and he's now phoned the dealer to cancel that... we now getting a brand new one. Might as well cos we are both like things from new and don't want anything thats been abused!

Probably not a bad thing, there are some good deals out there.
