Component protection for the infotainment display?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I have an annoying problem with the touch control panels (volume and on/off/mute) of the infotainment unit in my Octavia IV. When it's very hot, it all goes into overdrive, the volume goes up, the device switches itself on, etc. The only thing that helps is to pull the fuse and wait until everything is cool again.

I have searched various sources and have come to the conclusion that I will now replace the 10" display unit (5E3919605) myself. The car is no longer under warranty and the frequently quoted ~€1,800 in the workshop is too expensive for me.

Now my question(s): If I get an original spare part from the Škoda parts counter, does it have component protection? Does the display unit have component protection at all? Could I also take a used part from ebay?

To be clear, I mean this unit:

There is no component protection. You can change them in the right order

No contact on.

Undo the screws.

Remove fuse 30 and 46.

Change the screens.

Put it in place and put the fuses back. Make contact. If it's all normal screens starts up no problems.

Screws back in place ready to go.

All is to read and see in the pictures in this forum.

It's simpel but don't forget the fuses

Before I forget screen must be H49 hardware. 44 to 47 had the same problems

Hey @MartinOctavia1969 , thanks for your reply. The problem hasn't occurred for some time now, but I was able to buy a new device on eBay just in case. Now I know for sure that I just have to exchange it when the time comes.
