Boot virtual pedal issues

Featured Replies

Hi

Has anybody had issues or has tips on opening the boot with your foot? Try as we might, just can’t get it to happen!

Have checked that it is switched on in the settings, so not that.

It's a bit finicky

Foot closer to under rear bumper centre area seems to work

Can open and shut it too this way

Need key on you of course

I worked it out, it is a very deliberate in and out, not a swirl or a swish (like our old Taracco)

I'll try that method next

I've been swirling around etc

What works every time for me is foot under the bumper around middle of numberplate with key in pocket and then take a quick step back. At least the tailgate opens/closes quickly, my 2019 RAV4 seemed to take an age, but that car was utter **** anyway!

Yep, got it mastered now!

My Virtual Pedal has become an utter pain in the arse, so I have disabled it! We often go camping and I just got fed up of the beeps and the tailgate shutting and touching my head when loading and unloading. If I ever left something fragile half-in/half-out, it would be crushed.

At least make the damn thing work on opening only NOT closing!

IMHO it's an utterly useless and potentially dangerous unnecessary gimmick, set up the way it is.

I actually wanted an old school manual tailgate, but they just aren't available on any car that I've looked at. The one on my RAV4 really did my head in as it seemed to take an age to open and close, not to mention the problems after 2-3yrs.

After being "bashed" on the head countless times when loading/unloading, I have disabled mine. I hope the setting is permanent otherwise I'll be kicking up a stink ;-)

UPDATE: Opening the boot from the keyfob no longer works, but I always prefer to open when actually AT the tailgate using the button under the "O" in the rear logo. So far, settings have remained and no more bashes on the head ;-)
