New to Skoda but looking for an estate car for around £15k

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

As above, I need an estate car to do the usual stuff.

I don't do too may miles so it has to be petrol.

I'd like it to have a but of poke.

I want it to be reliable and affordable to run/repair.

I want to keep the car for ten years or so.

I'm looking at a few cars and the vRs obviously came up. Others include Volvo, Kia maybe,

Would the vRs fit my requirements? What would I get for the money - I've looked on AT but obviously don't know the ins and outs of the model or potential pitfalls etc. DSG etc.

Any advice gratefully received,

Thanks

If you intend to keep the car 10 years, then you need to be selective that it has been serviced throughly, and not abused by someone who didn't care about it's longevity.

You should also look at the 1.5tsi, not as powerful, but as it is cheaper, can get a newer example for same budget.

I do not know what equipment you think is essential, rather than a nice to have, or won't need or use, but always worth remembering the more expensive gadgets that are fitted, the greater the number of things that can go wrong or break and need repair. In some ways having less might save repair bills if it will get to around 13-14 years old in your ownership

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll include it in my search.

Are there any known issues with these that I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance.

Excellent engine but check service history especially re 4x4 gubbins.

The Superb is an amazing, comfortable and refined mile muncher that with the 2.0 petrol really flies. 2018 and earlier mkIII models have the excellent twin injection per cylinder (direct and port) that works well and mitigates re carbon buildup that just direct injection engines can suffer from (saying that I've never encountered this with 1.4 tsi).

I'm making full use of my estate this week - going camping now I've seen the forecast. Sadly it's no longer a Skoda Superb.
