Mk2 Fabia ABS issue and Air con code.

Featured Replies

Hello All,

Any thoughts out there on an ABS issue with my 12V HTP brakes? The car stops well enough but the ABS cuts in for ( in my opinion ) no reason. It's not in all conditions but it is consistent. There's a particular exit from a dual carriage way where I have to brake down from about 50mph to enter a roundabout and that's where it's worst but most other times at relatively low speed. The car brakes OK generally but it does have the ABS cutting in more than it used to. I do 50 miles each way to work , the car's on 130 000 miles and copes with everything thrown at it. Great little thing.

I can't see anything obvious - it's on Summer Michelins with good tread, the pads (EBC Red) are low but not critical . I have a new set of EBS Yellow pads and slide pins to go on, I'll bleed the brakes whilst I'm at it but any thoughts out there on the ABS? I have run an Autoscan on VCDS and that says the brakes are fine - or at least there's no codes and the ABS light is off- it goes out promptly when starting the car and never comes on when driving.

The only thing VCDS did throw up is a G65 air con High Pressure Sensor issue. I must admit the aircon isn't great - I did have it gassed a year or so back. Anyone know if that's a straightforward fix?

Cheers

I think it could be ABS wheel speed sensor. If you have access to VCDS then check, ABS module → Measuring Blocks and watch all four wheel speeds while coasting/braking. Look for one wheel speed dropping or fluctuating before the others. Try to clean the sensor.

Check the wheel bearings as well for play. Sons front bearing was shot and he mentioned that the ABS seemed to be engaging when it shouldnt. Replaced bearing and ABS returned to normal. His bearing was particularly noisy though. There was a bit of play if you pulled wheel towards you. Should have noticed it sooner but his exhaust was blown and couldn't hear the drone noise until I repaired exhaust.

Did you confirm your Air Con fault? The 00819 High Pressure Sensor could be faulty or it could be out of refrigerant
