Brake pedal moves when I open the car door

Featured Replies

I have a new Kodiaq PHEV, and I have noticed that when I unlock the car, and open the door, I see the brake pedal depress slightly almost instantly.

It doesn’t go down very far, but I’d be interested if anyone had any idea on why the car does it?

Don't know either. But my Kodiaq mild hybrid does it too.

I have the 2.0 diesel and quite often mine does it too.

It will often do it at random when the car is parked and I’m sitting in it.

I don’t understand why.

My 2.0 TSI also does it. Perhaps it's part of the auto comfort seat moving thingy?

The e-brake is active but just on the rear brakes, in P the front wheels are locked, maybe the Autohold gets activated so that then the front brakes are also acting on the disc.

Just thinking aloud.

This is due to the electronic system 'priming' itself for immediate operation. It's called the 'Hydraulic System Control' unit and it is checking brake pressure to ensure correct operation of collision avoidance systems and auto hold.

It is perfectly normal and I suspect it is prevalent across the entire Skoda range of models.
