Hello :)

You seem to be saying that it's a new car with only 1,000 Kms on the clock? Is that right?

Just a bit worried that you might finish up having to push it literally if it's not run in properly ;) An Octavia owner will probably be along shortly with a proper answer.

Welcome

Hi all' date='

I'd leave it until 1500kms before using all the rev range.

Thanks guys, it had 0.6km on the clock when I got it, do you think i have already been pushing it too hard,

the manual recommends not to exceed 2/3rds of max revs for the 1st approx 1500KM's, after that gradually increase until max revs reached.

Now in real words :-------- once you have reached 1500KM's , DONT boot it to max rpm :).

there have been numerous studies showing that it doesnt matter if you BOOT IT from new as the engines have already been run on a test bed before installation.

However, once you have had youre 1st service , it doesnt do any harm to run high revs a couple of times a year to blast any rubbish out of the system.

Just be Sensible

Thanks all, sounds like a good excuse for a 4 hour drive to the beach !!!!

How long to wait until you boot it? Until the oil is up to temperature ... and then enjoy ;):D I wouldn't personally bother with the running in procedure.....
