1.2 htp running temp

Featured Replies

Afternoon, has anyone had experience of the htp running warmer than 'usual', by the standards of the temperature gauge?

Been out for a run today & happened to notice it was sat on 100°c the entire trip- hills, level ground, a mix.

Like most VAG things its usually sat at 90°.

Last week it did have a coolant top up of say half a mugs worth- not even that really, it had the same around this time last year too.

Can't see any obvious weeping from the usual suspects.

Just thought I'd ask on here to see if anyone had experienced similar behaviour & if it was a lead up to an exciting event on the horizon 😄 thanks

Could be that the radiator fan has lost its first (low) speed function. Or both speeds.

Does the car have A/C, and if so does it work?

Can confirm that both the fan & AC are still functional 👍

Fan runs with AC & independently when up to 'triggering' temperature

Thermostat ever been changed?

It's all original kit as far as I'm aware.

Obviously the return trip has proven that they know when they're being talked about, perfectly normal 90°c 'problem!? What problem??' 😇🙄 typical.

I'll pick up this thread again if it changes its mind!2025-07-17-14-34-25-392.jpg
