First Skoda Driveshaft problem

Featured Replies

I have recently bought my first Skoda (secondhand) and at 43000 miles the Layshaft has "snapped".

Anyone else aware of such a problem at a fairly low mileage??

SORRY, I earlier said Driveshaft as that is what I was told, turns out to be the Layshaft. A "manufacturer's defect" the Skoda Garage tell me.

I only drive cars, no very little else about them, so please bear with a non techy!

How do you mean "Broken? It seems unlikely that the shaft has actually broken, rather than that one of the CV joints has failed, which can happen, especially if it was run any distance with a torn boot cover.
