Exploring buying a second hand Superb estate. ( 2010-2015) Budget 5-7K. Any tips on best engines/models and what to avoid. Thanks

Not sure if true of 1.8TSI petrol engines with bore liner issues drinking oil like on a stag. So some research.

I’ve had my 2013 Elegance diesel estate from new and it has been very good indeed, in particular I like the £35/year tax, over 50 MPG and excellent reliability.

I’d recommend the diesel model from my experience.

Does it need to be LEZ / ULEZ compliant?

A DSG or manual?

How many annual miles or use daily will it be doing?

Maybe give a 1.6 TDI CR / DSG (DQ200) a miss,

even though there will be those that have had no issues.
