Bubbling underneath paint

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Had my 3 month old Mk4.5 vRS valeted today. Valeter has noticed some bubbling in the paint on the front towing eve cover and nearby on the front bumper. There’s no damage or stone chips, this is directly under the top layer on the paintwork.

Has anybody seen this before? Is it a manufacturing defect and am I likely to have any issue getting Skoda to rectify? I’m worried about it getting worse more than anything. Photo attached.

Thanks!

You have your warranty so best read it.

Report ASAP to a Dealership / Authorised repairer. The employee needs to report it to the Qualified or trained Warranty Manager and not just go Oooo.

Pictures to be taken and an inspection arranged.

Expect sometimes the 'Car has been repaired', not factory finish etc.

Well the professional measuring the paint is the one to do the report.

If damaged then from factory, in transit, Kerb Side Auto Dealership repair not recorded etc etc.

That is just to let you know. Get your pictures, keep safe and send into the Dealership now and arrange pre visit that they have a Factory / Manufactures paint issue to deal with.

Hopefully nothing coming up with new models like the Yeti Zinc Inclusion issues. (Not very likely on non metal components.)

Contacted the dealership who asked me to go to my nearest Skoda approved bodyshop. Turned out there was one only 10 minutes drive so I popped down with it. They confirmed it was a defect and not damage, but thought it would be worth trying to machine polish out. They did it whilst I waited and it worked fine, no sign of the imperfection any more so all sorted unless it comes back!
