Superb IV - what no scheduled charging??

Featured Replies

New (2025) Superb IV owner - generally delighted and able to drive almost all miles on pure electric power with basic 2kw mains cable.

  • But there seem to be no way to schedule charging for cheap overnight electricity tariffs!

  • Nor can you delay e.g. charge to 100% to just before departure time.

Skoda support eventually agreed that this was not supported (as it is on all their EVs of course).

You can stop and start charging and set charging limit from the app - why not schedule it?

Yes, I can at least delay it to overnight with a timer socket - but I find it just unbelievable that this is what we have to rely on.

Anyone else had this problem?

I am just coming up to 12 months ownership and had this complaint since day 1. My old Superb worked perfectly with Departure Planner.

I now have a smart plug with the 2KW cable to schedule my charging for overnight :-(

The last update I received from Skoda was back in April.
"Our development team is actively working on improvements, including the ability to set departure times, create charging plans, and enable pre-conditioning of the vehicle. These features are in development and will be made available in a future update.

We will promptly inform you once these functions become available."

Thank you! - good to know I'm not simply unable to find the option.

Also good to know at least this is on their roadmap - my support email blankly stated that they had no plans to do anything.

So strange that with an "updated charger" and a battery that can keep you going for all short trips they would not consider this important - especially if it was previously available - and given that you can already set departure times and preconditioning of the vehicle where climate control/windows are concerned.

I have to confess I've defected from Skoda and bought a Seat Leon - which has the 1.5 TSI PHEV setup which I assume is pretty similar to the latest Mk4 Superb IV PHEVs.

But I (and others) have a problem with that which sounds pretty similar.

I don't know about the Superb manual, but my Leon's manual even describes the scheduling feature and how to use it - but in the actual car those options don't appear in the infotainment.

The thread on the Seat Cupra forum is here:

The suggestion some months ago was that the Seats may get a software update in Q3 of this year to address this, but we're a couple of months into that and no sign yet.

Interesting! There is no mention in the Skoda manual. When I first contacted support they were convinced I should be able to schedule charging by setting up "charging locations" in the MySkoda app. Which doesn't appear, at least for me.

I am also going to be relying on a wifi socket. The annoying thing is that if you switch it off in the middle of charging the charging port shows red and the app says unable to detect charging status (so you can't see battery level and you can't restart charging without unplugging and plugging back in.

Thanks for that.

The "charging locations" are described in my Leon's manual as something I can set up in the infotainment. And then I can assign a schedule with a location, with a departure time.... or at least I could if this functionality existed yet...

For my Leon it's part of the missing "Schedule" menu option on the Infotainment screen. I guess it might appear in the MySEAT app as well but there's no sign at present.

With my Zappi wall-box it can stop and start the charge - to be fair this seems to resume OK when it does this, although you can see that there is a faffing period when the car and wall-box renegotiate things after a restart.
