Amundsen to Columbus question.

Featured Replies

Hi,

I upgraded my Amundsen Head Unit to a Columbus and had the job done professionally. Parts used were H/U 3V019606D and The Multimedia Unit 565035021E.

All works well and it looks great BUT has anyone ever got the SIM card facility to work. If so, how do I do it.

I can't believe that with all of the knowledge that this Forum has that this question remains unanswered.

Have you asked the professional who fitted it?

I believe it should be possible to enable the SIM assuming you add the extra antenna and wiring required.

Thanks for reply.

I did phone him to ask the question but apparently nobody had ever asked before and he didn't know the answer. Is there any way that I could check to see if there is the additional antenna and wiring that would be needed . If it is not already in place what would I need to get to complete the job. I presume that the antenna would locate in a socket on the rear of the Multimedia group. Where on the car does it go ?.Does it have a name or a part number or is it the same as the other antenna. ?

@pab567 may be able to help with this - maybe you should message him.

To use SIM option you need to extend your antenna system with two LTE antennas installed in the corners of rear bumper. Then the unit must be proerly coded to have it enabled.

The two GSM/LTE antenna normally go behind the rear bumper, I think it's part number 3V0035497.

You'd also need to wiring as that will not be fitted as standard but there are plenty of fakra cables on amazon/eBay which should work once you decide on the length.
