AA Wireless

Featured Replies

Has anyone purchased the AA Wireless device that allows Bluetooth connection to Android Auto Interface, rather than the wired connection..?

My wired connection can be hit and miss which is so annoying especially using Google Maps!

I am tempted to try it..

I only have dáta on my Android Phone so how it turns wireless I'm not sure, or is it through Bluetooth.

Any advice? Thanks

I have used the AA Wireless device for some years and have not had any issues. Once setup it simply connects to my phone when I get in my car.

There are some cheaper options which have been used by others without problems.

Good luck with your search.

Thankyou !

I just ordered it..

So excited.. I've been longing to be able to use the Android Auto without issues since I bought the car 6 years ago!!

Am I right in saying it runs with your phone data and Bluetooth only.. I don't have a wifi connection in my car.

Thanks

The dongle has built in WiFi.

The phone connects to the dongle WiFi (replacing the usb cable) and to the car bt

I got the device this morning.

Got the App, and it's updated to newest version.

The phone and Bluetooth are all connected, but it's still not starting the Android Auto without the lead.

I'll attach some screen shots, maybe you can help me with what's not going right.?

Many thanks.

Sadly, my brain can't remember the details, but I probably used the website.

However, your phone only connects to one wifi network at a time. Your home network may be stopping your phone connecting to the AA Wireless network.

I use AAwireless with my JVC headunit, there's another thing you can check.

In your phone settings, search for Android Auto, you'll get a menu with a few options to tweak and a 'version' option right at the bottom. Tap 'version' repeatedly and you'll eventually get a notification that you've unlocked developer options.

Tap the three dots to the top right to get a menu popup where you can access developer optionsScreenshot_20250826-201554.png

Finally, at the top of developer options is a tick box to enable wireless connectivity

I'll check that out tomorrow, thanks so much.. Will let you know how I get on.

I did check my WiFi support on my Huawei P20 Pro and it's only 2.5gHZ, and it says 5gHZ is heeded so might be that too.. Thanks

You need a phone that is capable of using the 5Ghz band for Android Auto Wireless to work properly

you have to be unconnected of any wifi network during process.

i went to parking of another house to set it up, because i didnt want to turn off home router.

you need to be only on mobile data 4G or 5G to connect AA to wifi.

Yes as I said I was afraid that it was the WiFi that might be the issue.

I'll try out the other suggestions anyway just to be sure. Thanks for the advice.

I just got into that Android Auto setting on my phone..

Pressed the three dots, but there are only options for Help and Feedback and Send Feedback.

No Developer Settings or Close Developer Mode options as yours had. So frustrating..

first you have tap several times (i think 7 times ) on the bottom where is section "version and permission info"

than developer option will be available.

it is common gesture for enter additional options everywhere on android phone.

Can I ask, do you have 2.5gHZ WiFi support on your phone or 5gHZ?

If you have 5GHz that's probably why yours works and mine doesnt?

If you don't have 5gHz then I have a chance!!!

Just an update to you all, after all your advice today, I have managed to access and check relevant boxes on the developer settings on my Huawei P20 Pro phone, the Android Auto App, and the AA Wireless App

I reset my phone to apply changes.

Tomorrow is a new day, so I will attempt another setup on my Octavia System... Fingers crossed it works... 🤞😊

Yes, the Huawei P20 Pro supports Wi-Fi 5 GHz, and you can confirm your connection by checking your Wi-Fi network's properties in your phone's settings, usually under Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi. To ensure your P20 Pro connects to the 5 GHz band, make sure that your Wi-Fi network has both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands enabled and that they have different SSIDs (network names).

I'm not sure why you think that the 2.5Ghz and 5Ghz bands should have different names but they should be part of the same network allowing the phone, and other devices, to connect to the best signal.
