DSG adaptation (reset basic settings) after oil change

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I have a Škoda Kodiaq 2.0 TDI 110 kW with the DQ381 gearbox, 87,000 km. About 1,000 km ago I did an oil and filter change in the DSG transmission, and now I’ve noticed that in city traffic the gearbox sometimes shifts a bit harshly from 4th to 3rd gear, almost like a small jerk.

After the oil change, no adaptation procedure was done. Do you think an adaptation is necessary in this case, or could something else be causing this? Has anyone had similar experience with this gearbox?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Sorry, nothing similar on my DQ381 (coupled with TDI200).

But It has only 47500km on the clock and hasn't had any DSG oil change yet.

@Soldjer330

During the oil change & refilling and setting the level was the oil temperature being monitored as you went through the procedure and the correct oil level filling?

Yes it was Made by mechanic with original oil. But he didn’t make the adaptation. I can start the procedure with carista obd but i wanna ask first before i do some damage? Ty

I would be concerned 'The professional' did not do a competent job.

What needs doing is get the car on the ramp and check the Oil Level again as shown in the Video.

Then Resets might be order of the day. Currently check first the oil level.

Maybe I am dull, but it`s just an oil change. Never hear about resetting the gearbox after it. Why should you? You dont reset the engine after changing the oil?

"I don’t know, some people say that after changing the oil, a DSG gearbox adaptation should be done because the clutches loosen up after a lot of city driving and 60,000 km, which is the service interval. After the oil change, due to the change in viscosity (since the new oil is clean and therefore slightly thinner), an adaptation is necessary."

@Soldjer330 Some might on a DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch.

Is 60,000 km the official Service Interval in Croatia according to Skoda / VW for a DQ381 7 speed wet clutch DSG.

Or a recommendation? By who?

The UK is at 80,000 miles as th Rest of the world is, so more like 128,000 km.

Every mechanic here will say to you change dsg oil every 60 000 km, here Are official 120 000 service interval, but i live in very busy city with lot of speed changes do my interval is cut for a half

Once you have checked that the mechanic that did your service has the correct quantity of oil in then maybe an adaption is in order if the changes are not right.

Experts / Professional opinions do count for something, just as long as they are actually good at the job.

Rest of world the cities are obviously not busy.

i ask for adaptation because my mechanich did not perform one, and i will go to check if the correct quantity of oil was in the gearbox. ty
