Users and personalisation

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have had my mHEV 1.5 SE L est for 6 weeks now and I love it!

I have set myself up as Primary user, all is good.

If I set up my wife as a user (not primary), will the car recognise her key and switch to her user? Will it apply personalisation (seat position - I have memory seats), main phone, radio etc?

Short answer, Yes, for seats and door mirrors.

Though as always the devil is in the detail. Firstly, there is no actual need to set up a second user. My wife uses our second key and the seat moves to her last position when opening the drivers door. We don't have a second user set up in the Infotainment system.

This however, is dependent on which key is used to lock it and unlock it, and a setting in the Infotainment. Somewhere buried in there is an option to enable personalisation, which IIRC is the default, (sadly I can't remember where it is off the top of my head and am away form the car at the moment). Then, driver 1 unlock the car with their key, seat the position of the seat, and at the end of the journey lock the car with the same key. Driver 2 repeats the process with their own key.

After that each key will bring its own personalisation. There is no need to store the seat position either, though it makes life easier should the personalisation be lost (which it does from time to time).

For CarPlay, the system reconnects to the previous iPhone if it is in range, I assume similar for Android.

For 'Favourites' (radio, SatNav, etc) then I think you'd need a second user login, which should auto-login with the key personalisation active.

This is based on my Pre-FaceLift model, the newer cars may have different behaviours.

Thanks, I think I need to go and play!

OK,

I had a play.

Unlocked with wife's key, seat moved to her position. Exited car, lock with her key (using the button).

Unlocked with my key, seat moved to her position (comfort retract set). Moved seat for my position (by recalling memory), exited car, locked with button on my key.

Unlocked with her key, seat moved to my position......

Same the other way round, if I unlock with her key, then set her position on the seat, lock with her key, then unlock with mine, it goes to her position....

Couldn't see anything obvious in settings, but some of them are obscure.

Hey-ho!

Hmmm...

Been a while since I did mine; maybe need to turn on the ignition whilst setting it up, turn it off, then lock the car. Thinking this may initiate the saving/sync of the personalisation. Sorry to be a bit vague...

Tried that!

I'll play another day....

.. and report back if I find out how to do it!

I thought you could customise everything including radio presets, defaults screen settings, climate control etc.. we don’t have user profiles available here in NZ unfortunately so I’m stuck with seat and mirror position from the key which is better than nothing.

While playing with the 2 keys in & out - did you also check on the infotainment to see what User does the car "Welcome" when you open it? Is it the correct identification key-user?

It might sound quite obvious, but while doing the above test with the 2 keys - did you make sure that there's only one key in the "detection area" of the car?

I only have one user set (me), I tried to add a profile for my wife but it got stuck and never completed.

When I have tested the lock/unlock sequence, I only have one key on me - the other is in a Faraday pouch in the house!

Getting by with just pressing the seat button when I get in the car, I'll try it again one day.

Sorry for the late response, I didn't get any notifications!
