I wondered if this might be a common problem that someone else might have come across. With the air blower turned on it sounds like the noise made by holding a stick against a rotating spoked wheel. Very loud when on the highest setting. Sounds like something hitting the fan part wherever that may be. Is this going to mean taking the dash off to try and find what is causing the obstruction or interference in the ducting somewhere? Thanks for any help.

You were right. It was an Asda fuel receipt that got sucked up from the glove box into the hamster cage fan attached to the motor. Thanks!
