Oil change flush?

Featured Replies

Hey peeps,

Gonna do air & oil/ filter change on ma Fabia 2 1.6D 64 plate before MoT in few weeks.

Always rem running flushing oil round it & through after dropping old & before new refill on other older cars yrs ago. Would any of you still do this process as matter of caution or just because anyway? Just coming up the 60k mark.

Not necessary unless previous oil changes have been badly neglected, or the oil has been contaminated with coolant - I think most engine manufacturers state that flushing oil should not be used.

In the case where flushing is thought to be required, use regular lube oil, then dump.

ive just bought a 1.2TDI which has likely been neglected for the last 8 years so threw in a bottle of STP flush and did get some gunk out during my full service
