2011 2ltr diesel not starting

Featured Replies

Help!was moving at around 60mph when engine just died,no warning no noises just nothing, total power loss, tried for about an hour to restart, just turning over, not even attempting to fire up!Had error code on obd of P0087 (low fuel rail pressure).

Pump in tank doesn't seem to be running when ignition turned on,does however if direct power applied, checked all wiring from fuse board to connector on tank, including relay(fun to find) & all good!

A bit stumped now!had the car around 18 months & it's never missed a beat, never lost power, never gone into limp mode & never not started!

Any ideas welcome! 🤞

Does the fuel pressure increase when pump is running by direct wiring?

If not Maybe pump has failed and does run but doesn't pump up enough pressure. Blocked pickup or failed relief valve in pump Maybe??

Maybe an immobiliser fault stopping the pump running. I had a car where the immobiliser stopped the fuel pump but you could still crank it

I think so,had return pipe off at filter & flow rate is within range, good point re immobiliser, would explain sudden death, think an auto sparky is needed!👍
