How smooth should 6-speed DSG (DQ250) gearbox be?

Featured Replies

Should gearchanges with Superb 6-speed DSG gearbox (DQ250) wet clutch be butterly smooth?

I think mine aren't as smooth as I remember them on another Škoda with the same gearbox.

Mileage is currently 256k km and DSG oil changes have been done regurally.

I'd be interested in this as well. Mine was done recently, it's 105k miles now, but it can be a bit clunky, especially when changing down at lower speeds (or picking up from a slow roll).

Have you tried the DSG reset procedure?

Yes, I've tried the DSG reset procedure but unfortunately it made no difference.

Mine is also a little clunky (also recently serviced) at lower speeds. My old 2019 SEL used to be the same and that was brand new!!!

I think unless you have a sportier model (better tuned DSG) or have the TCU remapped yourself I have always thought of them as quite lazy around town.

Carriageway or motorway whilst you have your foot more firmly down is buttery smooth however.

Does your flywheel rattle when idling?

They do wear and are designed to dampen the output between the engine and gearbox.

Who are yoi asking? I had mine done about 2k miles ago by Skoda Specialist

Mine does rattle a bit at engine startup but nothing too bad (yet) according to my mechanic.

I bought my 2012 Superb 2.0 TDI in 2016 with 93k km's on the odometer,. First thing I did was giving it an oil change, as Skoda prescribes an oil change every 60k km. I have followed this discipline until today (now 263k km's) and the DSG runs still as if it left the factory. I also have to say I my car not aggressively at all.
One can perform an oil change DIY but I prefer to have it done every 3 years with a DSG specialist. Costs are about €200
