Headlights for importation EU

Featured Replies

Hi! This has been driving me a bit mad...

I am importing a 2011 Skoda Octavia MK2 into the EU and need to adjust or change my headlights for German MOT compliance. I'm currently driving with stickers on the lights, but need to deal with this within the next couple of months.

My model does not have the Tourist setting in the settings menu.

Before saying any more, flattening the light beam manually is NOT going to pass MOT inspection, so I can't just get away with flipping a lever in the projector head or angling the lights using the adjustable nylon screws.

My question is: can anyone advise on how to properly adjust headlights for EU compliance, or, give me a sense of cost to have this done at a service center, or, if its a better idea to buy a set of pair of headlights from a German scrappy and fit those.

Many thanks!

When we imported our car to France I just bought some European headlights off eBay. Swapped them over and job done.

Many thanks... After a lot of head scratching and digesting a lot of misleading online info, his is really looking like the best way to get it done.

Cheers!

I agree just swap headlights. There easy to remove and replace as long as the release lever isnt seized like mine was. Keep hold of the old ones in case you need to drive in uk.

Many thanks... Thankfully, the lamps come out fine, I've always changed my own bulbs when needed. I've started looking on ebay to find the right pair - some of the 'aftermarket' options (ie not Hella branded) seems pretty reasonably priced.

Cheers
