Looking at a Superb L&K IV PHEV

Featured Replies

morning all,

my son is looking at a 2021 Superb L&K IV PHEV with the 1.4 petrol engine. I'am just wonder how suitable the 1.4 is to such a large body as i have a 2011 170 hp tdi and that power seems to suit the size well. He currently has a 2.0 diesel Kodiaq and a 2016 audi a4 also diesel ( which he will be trading in )

So would appreciate any feedback both good and bad as to its sutability and any recomendations to disesel models?

thanks in advance

brendan

The combination of battery and 1.4 petrol suits it just great. Combined, I think it has something like 200bhp, acceleration is better than average. I've always had powerful cars and I am more than happy with this one.

On a normal day to day hybrid run I will get 55/60 mpg in reality, but always use the battery on local runs and the acceleration is addictive, so much so I want to try something like an Elroq or Enyaq VRS.

The best way to find out is to give it a test drive of course :)

I was looking at similar at the beginning of the year.

I wouldn't have a problem with the PHEV itself but you really have to be doing the usage cycle that suits the PHEV. If your son can charge at home and does lots of short trips then it may work out.

But for me the potential pitfalls of the increased reliability issues, ageing battery packs and my usage steered me down the 2.0TSi 190 route.
