abs module

Featured Replies

could anyone tell me where the abs module is located on the vrs? and how expensive it would be to replace as i'm not covered under warranty.

Its under the airbox.

Part usually comes with the ABS pump, around £700 iirc.

thanx, the reason i'm asking is that when serviced the dealer says the abs module is report a fault.i've road tested the it and the front nearside left seems to graunch a bit but the car still pulls up with out any real drama, do you know if a a problem with the brake or caliper itself would show up as a fault with the abs?

The caliper wouldnt no.

If there is a fault with the ABS unit and its under warranty why havent they changed it?

sadly not under warranty due to few tweaks, tho i have just found out that these modules can be reconditioned for £100 so things ain't so bad lol.

i do think tho that the abs fault is related to an annoying noise from the front wheel, sounds like a bearing but i'm assured it isn't.

Bearings arent uncommon.

I good start would be knowing what the ABS fault was.

my wife took the car in so i don't know the exact code, going to try and find out tomorrow, so 'i'll post again then, thanx for your help.

No problems.

My dad's wiring problem was indicated by an ABS fault amongst other things. Perhaps some more diagnostics before you lash out some cold hard stuff.

I agree with Stu. I had a brake fault which threw up Implausible ABS signals and led to a warranty-change of ABS controller. Didn't fix the fault. My dealer sprayed the electrical contacts on the ECU wiring with switch cleaner and the fault disappeared and stayed away.

Dad's required a new engine bay loom, a known issue apparently.

hi lummox, firstly should i not get the warning light on dashboard if the is a fault with the actual abs module and secondly droning noise at low speed front the front nearside wheel, is the any possibility that these things could be connected? as i know the abs sensor is in the bearing?

You should get a warning light yes if there is a fault. A diagnostic check would clarify this.

As for the droning noise I can only think of a wheel bearing that is fairly common on the Fabia.

hoping to get the fault coded tomorow tho with the attitude of my dealer i'm doubting if they will tell me :(
