Quiet Forum :(

Featured Replies

Morning all,

I have recently returned to the forum, of which I have been a member for many years, and unfortunately found it to be a lot quieter than yester year.

Such a shame!

I am definitely not saying the forum is dead, and it still serves a purpose, but I remember when there used to be monthly car meets, lots of new topics in different sections on a daily basis. Some of the sections now havent had updates for months.

Probably about 8 years ago, i helped organise a very successful meet at a car garage in the North West, and it went down really well. I might look at doing that again to spark a bit more interest in the area.

Its very critical of me, as clearly I haven't been around for years as well, but I am hoping there are still plenty of people around to keep this community going. Happy to help if and when needed.

So anyway, on a lighter note........ what's everybody's plans for the weekend 😉😆
Cheers
Paul

Like you I'm back for a wee look after replacing our Octavia with a newer model.

The forum is a bit quieter but ticking over.

Job for the weekend....polish the car !

No thanks, whilst I really like the end result I find cleaning and polishing a bit of a chore these days. I used to quite enjoy it but it's one of those things that's dropped down my "favourite things to do list" !!

I'm assuming you're driving a VRS of some type Mr Rocky ?

I think that virus thingy in 2020 - 2022 killed off the meets. Like you @RockyVRS I organised a well attended monthly meet darn sarf. Another chap took over the reins after I left the UK and it was still doing well until Covid hit then nada ☹️

Agreed, tis a bit quieter on here of late ........

Finally gotten around to waxing mine (car, Lol) recently after a good wash and polish ....

The waxing, 'Auto Glym Extra Gloss Protection' makes quite a difference.

Car still looks pretty good, very clean and quite shiny a week or more later and considering the weather we have had, i'm glad I managed to get it done finally. Been meaning to do it for ages.

And yes, bit of a chore tho ........

I think a bit part of the change in activity comes down to a couple of things .

Firstly “social media” so fb groups are “easier” to join and more “modern” than old style bulletin boards. Esp for younger folk who have grown up on fb etc.

Secondly, less and less folk are willing or able to work on their own cars so are less likely to look for help or guides on sorting issues themselves that they aren’t finding owners forums anymore.

And thirdly, compared to when the forum started, so many more people have their new cars on lease or pcp or even second hand models bought from dealers on finance that then offer service plans and extended warranties into the deal that again - have a problem? Ring the dealer not turn to Google for a diy solution.

The above being said, Brisky is still a relatively active forum, compared to some of the others around the net this place is like a London Underground stop at 845am. There is also still a nice steady flow of new members joining to counteract the number of members who sign off one day and don’t come back for… years… 😉

2025 Kodiaq vRS currently, although I have been a member of this forum since 2012, and I have had 4 vRS's in that time

I do agree with your comments mac, especially this one.

I remember when I first join, and going back further than that, the easy way to communicate was Forums, and this was before the likes of Whatsapp groups, FB chat, Snapchat etc.... all really started kicking in and becoming huge.

There may not be a need for it on this forum now, but have area representatives (North West, North East etc...) who can create private Facebook groups and organise meets through that.
But as you also mentioned, Covid put a dampener to a lot of meets!
